Questions about becoming a Marine Biologist?

I'm going to be a senior in high school next year. I live in New Jersey but plan on moving to California. Is becoming a marine Biologist hard? Also, I'd like to maybe become a Marine Vet. But I'm not sure what you would Major in for that. What good schools are there in California for this?
