I have blurred vision in my left eye. Its like a film is over the eye. I wanted to know what could cause this?

There is like a film over the eye. I can rub it and sometimes that makes it worse. I have had the problem since April 2010. We have no insurance and I am presently unemployed. I am desperately trying to find what the causes of this condition could be.
