Would travel writing be a good side job?

I've heard travel journalism doesn't pay a lot and I want to have a good job but still get to travel and learn about different countries. I want to do a job that's beneficial to people. I want to help people in some way and not get a degree in something with no real purpose. I'm getting better at math but I'm not that great at science. Hopefully over time I will get better though. Some interests I have are music, pyschology, writing, cooking, traveling, dream interpretation, and recently child care and cosmotolgy. I think it would be cool to be an optometrist, dentist, or marine biologist but I don't think I'm smart enough for it. How can I find a good career path?
