I think you two really are perfect for each other. You obviously have a connection, and I don't think you should be worried about labels. I think he doesn't want to label you guys yet because he's afraid he might distract you from your goals. Because sometimes labels do come with expectations, and I don't think he wants to put the pressure of an official relationship on you right in the middle of the semester. By telling you to ask him again later, he obviously is going to confirm your relationship. He is being very considerate of your future, and you should be happy you have such a great guy. :D
